Midnight in reality
Recently I feel as though I’ve been lost in the memories of my holiday this year with my father. It’s not a bad feeling - it’s sad in all the right places and has joyous snap shots of interesting moments I had been dreaming of having - but I can’t help but feel as though in itself that is just a snap shot, nothing more. This isn’t a new surreal feeling, it can easily...

Espresso with a slice of family
ihaveyourchildren: Last night my dad told me that we should wake up nice and early in order to go visit my great-grandmother and great-aunt at their apartment, however I woke up too early, falling back to sleep a couple of times, then waking up at around 11:30; still quite a while earlier than my dad.  Read More

First real day in Portugal
ihaveyourchildren: Today is my first official day in Portugal, and so far so good! The only negative thus far is how quiet it is here, no one is at my fathers house at the moment so there is no movement so I went out for coffee alone and got the shakes due to not feeling Portuguese enough. Tia Maria & Jas Cat: Dear... →
ihaveyourchildren: I appreciate that you have your views - as do I - but all that I disagreed with in our little chats was that you seemed to still firmly hold onto the belief that people who smoke are doing it because they want to look “cool”. Now, as a smoker myself I was quite offended by that statement. Smoking…

Struggles of a student: End of First Year
Relatively speaking, it’s been a short year. Though it feels as though I’ve been in university for an eternity, this is really only because you kind of live and breathe it every day - if you live on campus or close to it - so it essentially feels like you’ve moved out and you’re out there in the world, not the real world but something that gives you what you like about it...

Kony 2012 and the Invisible Children
Kony 2012 is something most of us are now familiar with thanks to a video that went viral by the Invisible Children, a charity that operates within Uganda wishing to make the invisible children of war visible. Joseph Kony is a the leader of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) which was formed in Northern Uganda who’s beliefs are based on the Ten Commandments and Acholi tradition. The LRA...

Mama Ria & Jas Cat: Can’t believe I’ll have to... →
ihaveyourchildren: Can’t believe I’ll have to pick my modules for next year in a week or two. D: This is all so scary it makes me feel worried, which in turn makes me feel sick, because it feels like I’m running out of time to live the life I want instead of living for university and a job. Money isn’t what I’ve…

Being on time = success!
One note has come down from my wall!  I’ve been on time for my critical thinking and actually woke up 2 hours early for it for a change! The problems I have with mornings is usually that, well, it’s morning for one and I’m one of those people/students that do well at night but not so much during the day, nocturnal. It’s never been something I’ve been good at from the...

A Procrastinators attempt at 'doing'
Though it has been a while since I’ve posted anything it is fair to say that the little yellow boat that is my life is still stranded in the middle of the Atlantic.  Decisions are hard to make for me personally, not that they’re not for others, but I always think what I do must benefit the greater good. This greater good is usually others around me and I know for sure this has played...

Today, day and tonight, night.
Can’t really say I’m thankful for the cold that has been bestowed upon me as I haven’t slept properly for four days and still have four essays to complete, one of which is more or less done but must be tweaked.  The stress is of deadlines for these pieces of work is getting to me and I don’t want shit grades at all, except I still can’t change the fact that I’ve...

To finance a normal life and enjoy oneself is too...
When I looked at my bank account this evening it said £222 something and now it’s down to £120 already. What did I spend my money on, you ask? Food/cleaning supplies/toiletries Two books  A jewellery box, pair of earrings and a necklace Some extra money for doing my washing etc A cheap concert ticket In total I’ve spent just about £100 in what is technically two days and as much...

A consideration for those we left behind
Long time no write.  It’s very suddenly hit me that  I’ve been uni for around 2 months now and can safely say it has changed a few things.  As ‘waiting for my chance to come’ says “it takes real gust to be alone” and they’re not wrong. It’s funny how it feels as though you wait for an eternity for the chance to escape your parents and home as a...

The 'Friends with Benefits' review-esque thing
Okay, I’ll apologize in advance if no one likes this but I’ve never done anything like this before so give me some tips if you think it’s rubbish.  Friends with benefits is basically based around two main characters Jamie (Mila Kunis aka sexy mama) and  Dylan (Justin Timberlake aka potato nose), specifically focusing on how a shitty situation for both of them can easily turn into...

Clean Ups
The clean ups I know of so far: Birmingham - 10 am - meeting by the Bull & Soho Rd.  Wolverhampton - 9 am - meeting by the Man On The Horse statue. Manchester - 9 am - meeting at Manchester Arndale (outside Primark) & Piccadilly Gardens.  All I know so far, but will definitely be posting more about the cleanups as I find out.

Let the free shopping spree commence! (Birmingham)
Over the past 4/5 days there has been an up-rise. Starting in London and continuing across the UK to places such as Liverpool and Birmingham it has been like some of those zombie movies where the government and police claim to have control of the situation but every day you wake up you find that the destruction has actually become more widespread.  I’m aware of what has happened in London...

Oh my goodness, I can design my own Converse!
Today is a fine day! After a friend of mine with one of the coolest names ever -Durshika if you were wondering- asked me via Twitter if I could help her with a design she was completing, obviously I agreed to and then she let me in on what it was; designing her own Converse trainers. This is a beautiful moment in history as I’d been waiting for something like this to happen for ages. Nike...

Creating your own future 'family'
Over time the family image has changed, and similarly so have peoples ideas of what a family is made up of. My own personal experiences of the family have been fairly normal, there’s a mother, several siblings that aren’t exactly 100% related to you, but really it doesn’t matter, you know how the story goes. My mothers own family although different, still consisted of people she...

Cher Lloyd and the Swagger she will never have
It has been a monumental month for music as Cher Lloyd’s long awaited ‘Swagger Jagger’ video finally came to our computer screens with devastating effects.  Technically I’m of a biased view point as I actually haven’t liked Cher since she first graced us with her presence on the X Factor stage in 2010. From her dodgy facial expressions, to her lack of real vocal...
